I am documenting my transition from a processed diet to a clean one that includes all or mostly all real foods. Writing about my experiences will hopefully keep me motivated and on track, and help me to experiment with new ways of eating clean. Here are my rules (modified from http://www.100daysofrealfood.com):

1. Whole foods will be defined as more a product of nature than a product of industry

2. Lots of fresh fruits and vegetables

3. Dairy products (milk, unsweetened yogurt– or naturally sweetened, eggs and cheese)

4. 85% Whole wheat and whole grains (100% at home)

5. Seafood– wild caught whenever possible

5. Organic meat (naturally raised is fine with me too)

6. Beverages are limited to water, milk, all natural juices, naturally sweetened coffee & tea and alcohol

7. Only real sweeteners are allowed. Honey, sugar, agave syrup, molasses, and 100% maple syrup

8. Grocery store products must contain only ingredients I recognize. I will try to purchase things that have only 5 ingredients or less.

Kathryn, your mom send me the link to your blog which is great. I have been buying organic food for years and have an organic veg box delivered each week. I am particularly exercised about bread especially since I cannot tolerate chemically raised bread at all and anyway it is vile. Animals are not allowed to be injected with hormones and anti biotics here but it is still sadly legal in the U.S. I either make my bread or buy properly made artisan bread from my local deli which is so much better anyway. Carrots and bananas are the most heavily chemically sprayed items here and Chileam wines had the workers becoming ill from ingesting pesticides used to produce the grapes. Can’t afford oragnic wines but would if I could!

    Love Mary
